Really outstanding group of crosses, congratulations. I love these Prinzens, but so far have only found a couple

1813 Wideframe, 34,2mm

1870 Halbgrösse. 26mm, Godet made. Silver frames and cast iron core.

Two 1914 3/4 Grösse. 35mm, so called 'Blued core' attributed to C F Zimmermann. Neusilber frames and sheet iron core in 2 halves.

What was the purpose of the prinzen crosses?

Pzrwest, the Reduktion, Prinzen or Reduced size EK's had the same purpose as the Kleindekorationen. To save space on cluttered breasts so to speak. They were never officially awarded but could be bought. Several period sales catalogues advertised them.

Come in both classes and were worn individually or on bars. Not only EK's could be bought in reduced size but they seem to be more common than other awards.

Latest addition, my 3rd Type-A Prinz. Core seems to be a nice defined cast, wonder why a auction house like Thies doesn't have better pics.
