this thread is ment fore pictures off the variation 1870 iron cross

.
1880 / 1890 / 1900 / 1914 / 1939 / 1942

especially iron crosses with no A or B type core

collectors who want to contribute with pictures ( off there collection or else )
to the need off a data base off the 1870 variation off the iron cross
( and the different frames there are around .)

this iron cross is a variant that has being seen also as first class,,
it may look like an A type ,,but it is not exactly similar

lots off theory's about it ,,,but as far as I can see there was some damage control done by hand in the casting process..
therefore the W and date looks odd



inner corners ,,and yes its a stepped core



the back holds a normal date ,,,look at the 1 and 8

Greg, I've never seen that piece. What a true beauty.

Here's an AWS from about 1900:

And one of these guys. Probably from right around 1895, intended (in my opinion) as a souvenir or perhaps for one-time parade wear. Very cheaply made.
