    Ek2 ebay seller "medalmaxx2"

Hello, just a warning to all members considering bying Ek2 1914 medals from this eBay seller medalmaxx2. Most of his ribbons are WAF confirmed fake post war modern reproduction, post 1960's made in Germany replacement ribbon. One side is chain stitched the other has irregular loops and also white row is irregular, not nice and straight.

    Thanks

Just to be fair to the seller, I would say that occasionally he has a modern ribbon. While I have seen him list a modern ribbon and describe it as original more than once, I have never seen a cross he is selling that is bad. Also, he somehow finds a large number of Imperial crosses. Ammersee

I must say that having looked at the sellers auctions he at least has a good selection of pictures and his description seems very fair and honest which is alot better than many ebay sellers. I personally am not at all convinced about the opinions regarding production time of Imperial EK ribbons. Touch and the feel you get from a ribbon to me are the best guidlines but of coarse not always possible prior to purchase.
Just my opiniion for what its worth.

They are mostly fake from that guy. I at least got him to stop saying "original WW1 ribbons" which is completely wrong. Now he is calling them "correct ribbon". Which is a small victory.

I did receive the ribbon in hand and it's a German made fake WW1 and modern made as Ammersee pointed out as he has same exact ribbon which he bought in Germany as modern replacement ribbon.

          hi all
i have bought numerous crosses from this seller. he is an excellent seller. fast correspondances. fast reliable shipping. and a no questions asked return policy for any reason. he is well connected and has access to lots of crosses. if you are a collector of iron crosses i highly recommend him. if you are a collector of ribbons then go elsewhere. me personally, i would rather have a piece of his ribbon then none at all. question....does the ribbon affect the price/value much of a piece?

The ribbon isn't that important to me either. I've noticed the crosses with an extra long piece of original ribbon in really nice condition will definitely increase the price. The crosses with little stubby pieces or no ribbon at all seem to go for about the same. Ammersee

To me it depends. If I'm looking for a noncombatant award then most of the time the ribbon is important.

                Good opinions.

My thoughts are that the ribbon is as important as the cross if you want everything true WW1.

Now I see many collectors at WAF just collect the orignal cross's and don't care about ribbons. This is fine also.

But i'm not going to display my WW1 and 2 cross's with modern fake ribbons, that is for sure.

Now I see this seller changed up his ads again about the ribbon. Now he's calling the fake modern ribbons "post WW1 to 1945" lol. I'm hoping for the day he calls them what they are.

So it went from "orignal WW1 non glow UV negative", to "correct ribbon" to "post WW1".

To answer your Question. In my opinion yes to price on Ebay. At WAF maybe not so much. How much affect can depend on many things. I think the Value of a true nice shape WW1 ribbon with original cross will be a higher value then just a bare original cross.

And this is why I started this thread. If a buyer doesn't care about the perfect pretty ribbon that this guy is selling with his cross's, that's being called orignal [really it's fake], and then willing to pay extra for it because the pretty ribbon drives up the price, then go for it.

But.....the person that believes the pretty perfect ribbon is original and pays more for it, then to find out it's fake or not find out at all but has paid more for it... well thats dishonest.
