    Unmarked EK2 1914

    Hi guys,

I need a opinion about the maker of this imperial EK2 ..

Overall condition of the cross is very good. The cross has a nice patina on the silver parts and the blacked iron core is in very good condition as well.

    Thanks in advance ..

    Gr,

    Jerome

    Hi Jerome.

It's an original one. Probably not possible to name a maker. Can you please give dimensions of the frame? It looks perhaps like a TR-made piece judging by its shape, and the loose fit of the core.
    Best regards,

      Cheers,

        It's my initials, of course...

        Just kidding: Third Reich-made.

          Hi Trevor,

What if the maker is not TR?

Which other country(s) also made the EK2 during WO1?

          Thanks.

          Gr,

          Jerome

            Hi Jerome,

Certainly the cross was made in Germany. The question is when? During World War 2 when EKs were ~44mm wide? Or earlier (1914-1939) when EKs were 42mm - 43mm? That is my only question.
            Best regards,

Hi Steve what are your thoughts about the whereabouts of this EK2?

Not all 1914 EK2s can be identified. There was much sharing of parts too I believe. That being said, I don't think this is a Third reich era cross. It is earlier than that in my opinion.

'KO' also sprang to mind when I saw the pics. I think the painted core and lettering/numbering look simliar to 'KO' marked pieces I've had. Just my thoughts. by no means definitive.

data base holds some fine comparing examples ...

the data base is pinned on the top off imperial

                          regards kay

The core is a typical KO core, but was also used by other makers. It's not a KO frame.

KO used a number of different cores, up to 4 or 5. Some have good detail, others, like this one not so good.
