    Reproduction Hindenburg Cross

    Hello,

    As a beginning collector, I was wanting to know if the Hindenburg Cross is reproduced, and if so, how would one tell the difference between the real from the fake?

    hy,
    i've never seen a faked hindenburg cross.
    the only "fake" i've seen, that someone cut the swords of to make a nonfighter version (but a comparison of the wreath around the middle emblem would tell you the "truth")
    but in total, i think its a item you could buy and be sure that its original
    christian

      There are fakes-- they are icky CAST items with weird finishes.

      Virtually all Hindenburg Crosses are bronze finished STEEL. Real bronze ones are rare enough to be talking about poultry dentistry....

        Hindenburg Cross

        Thanks for the information guys! That has put me into the right direction! A couple of hours ago, I found a noncombatant HC in a local antique shop, but the asking price was $35.00, so I passed on that one.

          I wouldn't pay much more than 10 - 15 USD for a Hindenburg Cross, unless it was from a famous maker, e.g. CE Juncker, or Godet from Berlin.

            --Actually saw a die for these on ebay recently for $35. I inquired a few times to the seller but received no reply. The funny thing was that the dates on the die were not reversed mirror-dates I expected but the regular 1914/1918...
