"1. s. R. R." correct regiment but NOT Reserve: two Rs, not three. There was no Reserve SRR. The several war formation Bavarian Reserve mounted units used "Kavallerie" in their designations.

In Jeff Noll's book Imperial German Regimental Markings, the unit mark, s.R.R. means: Recruiting Deport of a heavy Cavalry Regiment.

The unit mark, s.R. means: heavy Cavalry Regiment.

          Hope this information is helpfull

Yes it is, thanks. So Rick & GerColctor, if I understand well, 1.s.R.R means (with the help of Hausser's page) :
"1. schweres Reiterregiment Rekrutendepot", a Bavarian unit...

Could you please tell me more about what a "Recruiting Depot" is ? I'm afraid the equivalent in french is not really clear for me...

A regiment does not have a Rekrutendepot! Only divisions had Rekrutendepots, Regiments have Ersatz-Battaillone or Ersatz-Schwadrone etc.
The abbreviation means 1. schweres Reiter-Regiment and nothing else, believe me.

                  Ach, verdammt !

                  Well, going... going... gone !
                  OK for "1. schweres Reiter-Regiment".
That's the one I preferred, anyway...

Thanks a lot to all of you !
(There's a lot of knowledge here, about "order of battle ; this has always been chinese for me... Great !)

                    Aber was- Contenance, mein Herr.

Since I was the first to put in an answer, maybe I am the one to close the thread.
I stucked to the given URLs, but the interpretation
as a Reserve-Reiterregiment on the pages must be false.
Anyway, there was never a triple R, nor seems Jeff NollĀ“s Book regarding s.R.R. as a Rekrutendepot correct.
Correct is indeed, that a Rekrutendepot is always attached
                    to a Divison.

I called the Bavarian Army Museum at Munich today,
as well as the Army Archive, and so I can at least
-hopefully- utter that 1.s.R.R. does stand for
                    1. Schweres Reiter-regiment, and nothing else.

                    Best,
                    Hausser

Hausser : I hope you won't mind if it's me who will close this thread, as your previous post deserves a big "thanks".
