Oldenburg War Merit Medal of 1916

I'm posting these for Steven. It is awfully difficult trying to get GOOD images of Oldenburg's black painted iron awards, but here goes

there appears to be some sort of fiber or cardboard under-structure in there that Steven can rell us about, in the center of the ladies' bow.

Steven also sent me this, which appears to be a War Merit Medal on the ribbon of the Kriegerverein Cross... ?

Bow

The bow is just a bow.No backing ,but an irregularly shaped brass plaque with a pin attached.I cannot send magnified pictures of the pin but will send a shot of the reverse and tell you it says "D.R.G.M." and on a second line it has the numbers,"337 734".I will send the picture to Rick L. who should get it soon.

And here it is, and quite nice too. Classic pin as found on many veterans' lapel badges etc. The number would help DATE it if anybody can figure out when the numbers were issued on these designs.

Yes, wouldn't it be lovely if it'd all be there still. What you are looking for is the rolls on Gebrauchsmuster. The Deutsches Patent-und Markenamt does keep (very) old records, but they are not complete. They will perform a search of their records, but not for free. Up to you to decide whether it's worth it.
