    1870 EK2 assembled from parts

    Hello, all.....
I just received the core for this EK2, and mated it with the frame halves that I already owned.

I'd like opinions on the pieces from those who know them best....

    Thanks very much.....
    Bob.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

Looks good from the front. The core is a Godet type B core. I would think
to a collector, It's probably worth more on it's own than as part of a put
    together piece.

Bob, i'm still learning Imperial stuff but the core looks like a good 1870 Type B (Godet) core with the slender 0 and leaning 8.

I'm awful with frames still so I won't comment on that hahah

Anyhow, very cool and it looks good my friend.

Neat to see the IC disassembled. So now what, use solder?

Nope.....I'll be framing it with all the separate parts displayed....

(Unless some other collector simply MUST have the core....)

Hi Bob, can you post closeups of the frames inner corners and overall measurements?

Frame is 43.37mm....I hope these pics of the corners will suffice. If not, let me know.

The frame halves are from a bag of EK2 frames that I have...There are about two dozen frame halves in the bag. I chose two that fit the core well.

              Cheers,
              Bob.

I'd much rather see BobCam put the parts in a frame than solder the thing together and put it on estand!

Since I was a very small child, I've had the urge to take things apart...just to see what's on the inside. I've been so tempted to take an EK2 apart and make a display but haven't yet.

Show us your finished display when you get it buttoned up. Ammersee

Oh, Bob just that I never seen disassembled IC in anyones collection so far. But if you have many others displayed it would be cool to have one apart to see what makes them tic.

I never noticed how small the detail is on them until I got my first one in hand. I'd hate to have to work on them.

Bob, were these EK's taken apart so that the silver could be melted down? I hope not, but I once saw a bag of silver British War Medals (named, of course) with the suspenders removed so that they could be melted. They were rescued instead. If you rescued these from meltdown, kudos to you. Ammersee
