    Godet EK1

I've been really interested in Godets for the past six months or so. I just picked this one up and I'm very happy with it. I hope you all like it, too.

Lovely Godet with the oval backplate!

This cross was advertized as for "winter use" in the JGS catalogue from 1915

(Did not matter how thick your uniform was considering that killer screw sticking out.)

                  Carl, that's very interesting information.

Trevor, as you of all people know, I too have been on a Godet kick. They are such nice quality pieces. This is a very nice pick up bud. Gratz on a nice find!

Like it better now when the uneven patina is gone. The "Winter use" was a stupid joke Trev, regarding the screw sticking out, sorry for that...

That's an outstanding example of a Godet EK1, Trevor. And in excellent condition as well.

Actually I became interested in Godets after reading your past threads on them. That's why I jumped at the chance to own one (an EK2) when I saw it on ebay. Now I'm on the hunt for a nice EK1 as well. See what you started?

                        Best,

                        Alex

Nice one Trevor, you're lucky to have found one of these in such good condition. I like it this way or cleaned, would have been a tough call on this one.

                            Hi Chris and Alex,

Thank you for the nice words. I love this piece -- one of my real favorites.

                            Carl,

I thought you were serious about the Godet catalogue Thanks for the clarification. I would have sounded a bit silly insisting that this cross was for "winter wear" to another collector down the road.

Another juicy and not easy to find example. I've been lucky to find a similar one in my endeavours.
