    Hessian NCO Pickelhaube

Any thoughts on this Hessian NCO spiked helmet? The price seems...well too good. But it had a low opening price and still has a way to go. I don't have a Hessian helmet so this would be nice...if it is real.

Oh my GAWD that is just awful. First off, no (original) pre 1915 Hessen helmet has that configuration of a round spike base and smooth spike except the war-time M1915 examples which dropped those niceties. And an issued liner and issued M95 rear spine with officer pattern chisnscales and Rosettes? Groan. Not possible. The seller claims German silver, but I wonder if a magnet will stick to the fittings. I have seen way too many M1915 helmets that have been polished to look like Pioneer helmets. Even if they are silver fittings, that Hessen plate is lost and a long way from home. Here's mine, not on my web site yet. Note the cruciform spike base and fluted spike. Tony
