The start doesn't have to be there. It is very typical to just have the ribbon. The medals on the Saxon style mounting are horribly jumbled.

the bar came like this from the family and the ribbons are sewn down, maybe the veteran , the german veteran did this after the war?

Excuse my ignorance, but how is this bar meant to be worn? At an angle under the lapel of a suit, or straight across the breast? It seems like there's a lot of metal showing there.
            Best regards,

Very strange to have the Hindenburg Cross with a Kyffhaeuser Medal and Ehrenlegion Medal, not regulation. And the quality of the mounting is not good, and the ribbon of the Kyffhaeuser is wrong. Also, I've never seen a clasp on the Halfmoon ribbon.

.....there were some clasps for the halfmoon , miniature and full size.

                        From Wikipedia:

The campaign bar is a right-pointing parabola of white at 56mm in length and 7mm in height. In the field is red Arabic script denoting the specific campaign:Here's an example (BB&Co.) that sold on ebay late last year. I forgot what campaign this one was to. The bar looks silver to me, so either the white has faded or the reference may be wrong as to color. Also, it's a trapazoid and not a parabola.

It is right order for Saxon frack bar and also Gallipoli star is indicated correctly on it - no pin back award attached to the medal bar - just a ribbon.

trifolds medal bars do not look great but still you have what it is - amazing set of awards for a brave guy who got St.Henry!

Weimar era awards and Hindenburg Cross - not correct way to wear it but lots of vets didn't care. This guy wasn't in service after the Great War anyway. You can find many similar groups where haven't followed regulations prefectly.

                          Regards,

Timo, other than the Iron Half Moon being on the end this bar is no where close for a post 34 bar.

I know that, regarding order of the awards - it is messed up! If there is Hindenburg, then as far I know in first place should be EK2, then St.Henry, FAM, Hindenburg, etc. Also no Weimar era awards. Am I correct Don?

My point was that there is bars, what is missing Gallipoli stars because germans just didn't wear the on the medal bars - just ribbons. Also there is bars where is Hindenburg and Weimar era vet organisations awards what is incorrect.
