naval cross of honor bar w/ clasp & IC ll

Heres a naval cross of honor w clasp, wich i am unsure what this stands for(clasp wreath with sword that is),reminds me of a clasp of honor like in ww2 so maybe thats where they originated... but is missing the medal. I wondered why the first medal was above the ICll, but the naval cross of honor must have been valued above the IC , thusly why it is first on the ribbon bar. Too bad it was missing, but you get em as you get em. There is a ring attached, but i cant see anything showing how its attached . (no hook)

Notice: space between core to the right of the W and right bottom ribbing. In fact i can see under the top right rib if i hold it up to the light, so it must not be soldered all around the ribbing edge. Ive got a ww2 cross made just like this with the ribbing points in spots that can be pressed down to move with a finger, but are totally original. .

That is a frack bar for wear on civilian dress. That is why the EK2 is on the right. When worn along the left lapel the EK2 would be in the highest position because it is a higher award.

So whenever you see a medal bar with the EK at the far right side (as you look at it) that is the reason Don?

Just curious as I actually saw a couple some-what recently and just dismissed it since the EK wasn't on the far left. Of course I know nothing about medal bars in general, other than I like how they look hahah

Look at the pin/catch. The hinge is usually to the end with the higher award. Remember that some German states considered the EK to be a foriegn award which would put it after thier awards. On a small bar that can push it to the end. Here is a Bavarian bar to show what I mean.

The reverse. Note which award has the hinge behind it.

What the frack?? I mean what does frack mean, or what is the term frack related to ? I haven't ever heard that term before . That medal bar hinge is also something i never knew. Makes sense why the hinge is on the ICll side. Thanks for the input , and if anyone has a naval cross of honor to post please do for those who are unfamiliar with what it looks like.. You know i havent seen many medals bars in the last few years, and now in a week i have bought several first hand.

The other indicator is the angle of the medals. A regular bar is nice and level because of how it is worn. A frack bar is angled because it follows the anle of the lapel.
