Cigarette Case with E.K. I and Inscription

I just got this cigarette case out of the woodwork today. I am correct in assuming that half of a WWI-era E.K. I (or is it an E.K. II?) is attached to the outside or is it from an earlier period? Also, I think the inscription is in Polish and would be very grateful if someone could translate it for me. Thanks!

It is, strangely, the reverse side of a WWI EK2. Can't help with the translation unfortunately.

There is a part of me that doubts it is a period original because someone either a) didn't know what the obverse side of the award was, or b) thought he could pass this off as a Napoleonic-era piece by pretending this was an 1813 EK2 (if those two 19's at the end mean 1919, then scratch b).)

... or is the front of the cross on the other side, that we can't see?

Anyway, it's very cool, and probably perfectly authentic .
        Best regards,
        Streptile

Maybe someone had an EK that was damaged and they salvaged what was left, turning it into postwar "trench art". Ammersee

Altough I'm not from Poland their language is quite similar to ours so let me try: "To our dear colleague Michal Kurkiewicz from his colleagues to remember our joint work". Last four words seem to be name of the company. Hope it helped you a little.

                  Here is exact translation:

                  "To our pleasant comrade
                  Michał Kurkiewicz
in tok-en of remembrance common work
                  from comrades from Accounting of
                  Mechanic Department of Radom Management"

I think that Radom Management might be management of railway in Radom.
