Picked up a couple of nice photos yesterday and would like to share them here with You.
As all of them have captions on the back, it seems quite clear what they show.
The unit was the 7. / L 125 (7th company Landesschützen or Landwehr-Bataillon 125) and the photos were taken in summer 1917 (some were taken in january 1917).
The two generals are General von Franke and General von Brand ( von Brand is the one with the spike-helmet and neck decoration).
They are distributing awards, IC's 2nd class, as the caption says.
Same unit but another day, a burial ceremony, note the army chaplain, a nice shot.
I made a detail-scan of him:
Another burial ceremony:
And another chaplain:
And yet another photo at the grave-yard:
Presence of the general:
One photo from january, caption says: Sicherheitsbesatzung Ruofflager Januar 1917 (Sentinels or security-guard at the Ruoff-camp)
A detail from the first pictures, the General is also carrying his gas-mask container:
What I like about these photos, is the look of the soldiers. Not nice and clean, but dirty and combat-proven front-line soldiers. Also the quality of the photos is very good, sharp and crisp.
Kind regards
Robert
