    1813 ek

Hey all. Didn't know if this is original, but it has a COA from DN and seems rather cheap, I think. I'm not expert on 1813s and don't know what they go for, but I thought it was closer to 4-5k...anyhow, just dropping a line for you pros out there. Take a peak and see what happens. Maybe it will be a nice pick up for someone who can afford it!

Well, he is a lucky and soon to be more wealthy person

Wish I had 2,500 laying around to blow. I'd nab that in a hot second!

Yes, he's a member, and a good honest seller.

I wouldn't post ongoing auctions (non Buy-it-now items) here in case another member is bidding or watching. It's just a bit of forum etiquette.

              Trevor,

I had thought about that, actually. I wasn't quite sure on what to do. I ended up deciding the potential helping of a forum member buying it, outweighed everything else, but I see what your saying and didn't take into account the possibility that multiple members maybe going for it etc etc. I will remove the link to prevent any "situations".

              Sorry guys

Edit: Alright I can't edit that post anymore, apologies if this causes any issues. Was certainly not intended!

Correct. If it was an auction I would have editted the post. With a Buy it Now it doesn't matter.

What is the consensus on this one in terms of date of manufacture?

                    Hi Vince,

I would have guessed 1830s, but if you notice, Detlev Niemann's accompanying COA states 1815-1820. So I suppose he knows something I do not.

                      Good question.

I have one that is similar and was told by DN that it was from 1815.
That being said, I have heard that the ones with the wider frames like
this were from the 1835 batch. So I don't know for sure.

Here is the cross in question.

i always believed this style was a later batch as well, as i didnt think the manufacture had improved that much by 1815. does anyone else know for sure? i know it as a coa from detlev, but even so...?

Perhaps it is an early core remounted in a later frame. Early on, if a recipiant died the cross was returned for reissue. Frames tend to take most of the wear and tear.
                          Just a thought.

                            Interesting thought.
My 1813 has a repaired frame. DN said that the cross was early and that
the frame repair was probably 1830-1840.
