    1870 EK2 with large 25 Year Oakleaf - Opinions ?

This belongs to my cousin and he has had it for years. Thought I would post it as I know precious little about the 1870 crosses.

I have seen this style of oakleaves before but mostly on period cups and commemorative items. Was this style used as spanges on bars like this?

Also I hope the close ups of the cross are helpfull for some you with much greater knowleadge to make an opinion about its authenticity.

Thank you in advance for any comments.

        Hi,
Sorry to say that I believe this one to be a fake. This looks to be
one of the "Bad Crown" fakes. The evidence can be seen by looking
at the sweat band on the crown. You can see how it is off center to
the right of the rest of the crown.

I don't like the frame on that one, either.

            I agree with Greg, unfortunately.
            Best regards,

Bad cross, likely bad oaks, and a medal bar that dates into mid 1930s, meant for 1914 EK2 and Honour cross.

i cant make out the sweat band like greg can, but the top of the crown i can and believe this is bad also. the oakleaves im not sure about. i think they may not be out and out fakes (i.e. some kind of replacements or something), but they do not seem to be 'official' 1895 ones to me.

Thanks for the info guys. My cousin said he will sell it here as a repo or as is on eBay. Appreciate the comments.
