Please help identify - Imperial Cross ..?

Does anyone know know what this cross may be ?

40 mm. wide heavy bronze - I've looked through all my reference works , and still can't find it - but does look Imperial German .. ?

Looks like a Lion on a STRIPED shield - together with the simple double round crown-type and a Gothic " W " on the front this IMHO would rule out my home country .

I still lean towards a German Imperial state , but can find no matches . . ?

Based on the coat of arms and crowned W my first guess would be Luxembourg, then Limburg, then the Belgian-Dutch- German border region. I am fairly sure that this is a local rather than a national issue. If you post this over on the OMSA site some one there may have an answer for you.

Good call! It looks a lot like the Luxembourg Cross of Merit of Customs Service, for 10 years, only with swords...

Sure looks like it - so possibly called the Military Cross of Merit for Luxembourg ?

Coat of arms of Luxembourg is indeed a Lion on a striped field . The " W " then stands for Grand Duke William II, who was also King of the Netherlands .
