Careful Kay. It is a slippery slope into the world of steckkreuz.

What is it? It's a beautiful piece. Meybauer I guess is the maker.

The only bit of critic can be that the cypher XXVII is not aligned with the 1914... the medallion is a bit off.. but that is just jealousy !

                you're scepticism is justified

but of what I seen and found ,this is a exceptional variation .

                    Congratulations Montgomery Burns.

You have a wonderful example of what I consider to be one of the true classics of Imperial German decorations. The design is quite unique (you are not going to mistake one of these for something else) and at the same time just screams “Germany 1914”. The construction, and there are several variations, is complex and genuine examples are of top quality. All of that plus they are quite rare - 366 awarded.

                    Again, congratulations,

                    Wild Card

I guess these don't come cheap? What would a man have to spend to add one to his collection? I love this piece.

OEK value is €900 for a pinback. I'd say this Meybauer marked screwback, which is very uncommon, would be worth about €1000 - €1100. My guess.

Thanks. Might be awhile before one shows here.

                              A very nice addition Kay.

The only other Meybauer screwback I've seen of this award was on a dealers site a few years ago, but missing the green oakleaf attachments.

It took me many years to find one of the pinback award pieces. They are exceptional quality in hard. If you can find one for 900 €, you've found a bargain. Last pinback I saw on eBay went for over 1500€ from memory.

                              Regards
