Yes, they were Berlin based from memory. Find pics of a Schlageter (sp) badge, as most of them are Kust marked.

I believe Paul Kust and co. produced ribbon bars, medal bars and minis.
From what I can tell the did not produce any actual fullsized awards or medals. I think they goy the awards from other venders and the assembled the ribbonbars. I have seen buttonhole devices and frackchains
with the Paul Kust name on them.

Here is a neat little item I was able to purchase a couple years ago.
A page from an original Paul Kust catalog. Judging from the awards being
shown, it dates to between 1895 and 1914. --- 1895 oakleaves but no
        1914 medals.

                  Nice, Kay.

I am very interested in any information you have about 1870 EK2s made from 1871-1918, or beyond -- a subject I know you have been studying. Maybe you can post a thread with illustrations from your catalogues in it?

                  I hope so
                  Best regards,
                  Streptile

This catalogue/page does not appear to be dated but has to be from the 20s or early 30s based on the numerous post-WW1 veteran's association awards and absence of Hindenburg crosses (which were introduced 1934, at the same time the vet association awards were banned).

The 1870 and 1914 EK2s look nothing alike, but the drawing of the 1870 appears to resemble the "wideframe" ?AWS/?Juncker examples (in this case with a narrow frame though?).

                    Regards
                    Mike

You know, I thought about your piece when I saw this catalogue page.

                      I would like to see a high-res scan of that 1870 Ek2.
                      Best regards,
