Imperial german eagle plaque

Hello folks. Thought I'd toss this up on the forum for your perusal. It's a very nice, darkened, pressed copper on wood Imperial German (I believe) Eagle plaque. It's quite large, measuring nearly a foot and a half across and nearly two feet tall. It's very impressive in both size and detail but alas, is utterly void of any manufacturers markings, etc. Has anyone else ever come across such a display piece? It'd certainly be fitting for a backdrop of Imperial militaria. Thanks.

"duck"?? Maybe if you bird-watch from nuclear "Lake Springfield"...No, it's not a "hoax" (???) It shows much legitimate age and the construction is similar to other period decorative pieces I've handled. It was acquired from an estate clean-out and sold at the local antique flea market by an estate buyer I know. Just because it doesn't conform to any "textbook" standard, or because you've not personally seen one before, does not imply it's a "fake". No apologies necessary.
I believe it's simply an Imperial period patriotic decor piece. I do however, question the national representation, as there were quite a few European nations who used a similar heraldic eagle device. The absence of a crown, orb, scepter, etc. leads me to believe it could also represent a nation other than Germany.

Ha! That's true. But again, similar to quite a few other heraldic eagle devices I've come across in the past, whether represented on flags, plaques, etc. It's affixed to the wooden base by several small, slotted brass screws. There's much age crazing to the finish on the wooden base, and where the blackening is worn on the bird the copper base metal shows through. The photo doesn't really do it justice, I just snapped it on the fly yesterday. In person, it's much more impressive. Thx.
