Cased EK 2 with outer carton

    Hello again,

Can anyone tell me if the 1914 EK 2 case and carton shown in the following picture actually go together?

    http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/a...onCrossBox.jpg

The carton seems a bit too large for the case. But I could be wrong.

As ever, your feedback and comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    EK Hunter

I can't see it being for that case shown. Like you said, it's too big for the case. Furthermore, were there even cardboard boxes for EK2 cases? Weren't EK2 cases private purchase items?

I doubt that the box is for the case. All EK2's were issued in a paper envelope. If you see an EK2 in a case it is a private purchase piece. There are several types of cases that were mass produced and many, many more types that were custom cases.

Between the wars there were many case manufactures who would make custom cases. I used to have over 50 different EK2 cases in my collection.
