Recent Discovery of a Lt Genl's Decoration

Just found by my mother in a box of small items was this to me unknown medal of my grandfather's. It's NOT very exciting to most but to me it's the knowledge she still has a few boxes and drawers to go through.

Also, another device immediately after this one, some of you may recognize...

You can REALLY see the thread pattern on the silver wire of this "unknown" device. I'll pull this one off in a few days or hours, it's just too much information for the fakers.

        Wow Brian,
Do you suppose there is a little dangly thing to go with that ribbon or was it worn
as just the ribbon? No device needed. If it was me, I would digging through any
        box I could find.

Seriously, Your family tree is amazing and finding anything from a centanarian
medal to a PLM or even a letter or photo is wonderful.

I have a old friend that was a ww2 vet. He has given me a token or two
and he says he has some more souvineers, he just can't remember where
he put them. I would love to help him search but I am happy just to share
        in his stories and frindship.

My grandfather really let me down in so many ways...

          No 'extra' PlMs...

          No 'extra' mini PlMs...

He wore these, my mother tells me, on every suit he owned. He had a button device he'd wear through the button hole.

Not always appropriate for the mini PlM but always room for the ribbon my mother tells me. I have a couple more... But only one hangy down device.

Really spoils the tales of all these 'extra' PlMs, I know...

But at least he had several of the button devices. I now have three of them and my mother has a couple she's hanging onto.

Wyoming. My grandfather might have stole from your grandfather.

There should be a forum for all these old relatives of no account

Wow, now that is a little treasure BrianMy great uncle was a Colonel in the artillery, and always wore just one buttonhole device, for the HOHwX. On another note, my great aunt was digging through her attic years ago, and found some 'junk' which she sent to me because she knew I liked 'junk'. It turned out to be my great grandfather's 1914 EK1 and some items from my great uncle who was killed at Orel in 1943, including his HJ Golden Achievement Badge

                              His EK1! Very nice!!!

What I hope the members will gather from this is that these PlM awardees were not out shopping at the nearest WallMartschen for a more shiney PlM, the 'private purchase pieces'.

They were I'm sure like my grandfather and understated and discrete. Unlike Herr Goering, who was the exception.

I'm pulling all these photos so enjoy quickly.
