EK1 1914 Medallion

Goodday fellas,

Today i receive in the mail this medallion with on top of the front a miniature EK1 1914..

Its comes with a red etui..

Insite this medallion there's a text with Alpacca, this is an alloy made of nickel, copper and zinc.

There for i can place this piece to late WO1!!

Is there anybody who can tell me more about this uncommon piece?

Almost looks like a locket to be worn around the neck. A piece of patriotic jewellry perhaps?
