I picked this up at an auction for unclaimed storage. I have never seen a Naval sword from any country that wasn't principally brass, including a few Imperial Kriegsmarine swords I have had in the past.
So, when were they made in steel instead of brass? All of the fittings on this sword are magnetic, and the scabbard has a steel body and fittings as opposed to leather with brass fittings. I would think this thing would be a bucket of rust after 2 weeks at sea. Eickhorn blade.
