Yes, by the looks of it it's marked JH Werner Berlin. Better pics would help. If this is real it is one of the more sought after Imperial EK1s out there, especially in the screwback version. Get us better pics of the rear with the makers marks and the front. That will determine if you have a good one on your hands.

I can't seem to see the photos any larger than this:

        Am I doing something wrong?

          Hi,

Trevor, use the link to find a few bigger pics of the reverse.

From what I can see, it is indeed a rare and desirable J H WERNER screwback.

          Regards

it looks like a J H Werner to me ( marked twice ?)

but it is a different core ...

the little screw is missing the handle

the plate is ok ,,, looks vaulted( what not have to be a problem)

I wood like to see the stamp more close up ,,,,,

                  the screw look thicker

                    Werner

Don't know if Werner used two differrent cores, but Kay is right, it is a different core than the ones I've seen. Backing plate and screw most probably replaced. If one looks close at the reverse, one can see faint marks from a larger backing plate. Maybe of the oval variety. A replaced backing plate would not be out of the ordinary at all. Definately not saying that it is not original, just never seen one like this one before. Like Kay asked, would love to see better (clearer) close up photos of the markings on the reverse. This one has me perplexed a bit.

Looks like another maker can be added to the list of those who used the generic "Slant W" core.
