    Unit Marked Flare Pistol

    Hello Gentlemen,

I have this big fellow of a signal pistol. It is in excellent condition and unit marked, "11 p 111" and some additional markings in the same area (see Pics).

Can this be dated? Was "WHF" the maker? It took me many moons to find this flare pistol.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Happy Huntng,
    Vince Leone

Possibly 11th Pioneer Battalion, weapon 111 but is non standard so I may be wrong.

      Hi,
I have exactly the same flare pistol as yours, but it is missing the lanyard ring assembly, and is not in as fine a condition.
Mine is stamped with a small m in an oval, which I assume stands for Mauser.
I have seen the same model displayed in the Imperial War Museum, London, where it was described as being from WW1, manufactured by Mauser.
      Hope this helps.
      Regards,
      Ray.

Hello, the small "m" actually stands for " Immmanuel Meffert " The Mauser designation is an oft repeated error.
