Got this cross and box this weekend thought i'd run it past you is it or
the box is brown if it doe's not show to good.

Looks good to me, I think the pin may have been replaced, is there any indication of this on the piece?

I'm with Dez. This a nice worn example - a worn, vaulted EK marked 800 and an original case. The pin looks like it was replaced - probably period as the wear on the cross seems to be from actual use, not just age.

It looks fine only with the "800" mark on a strange position.

Looked at the pin and it does not appear to have been replaced so if it has it was done a long time ago.

The case is exactly like mine! I'm sorry about the quality, but you can prolly see the resemblence. And the case is brown, just like Merdocks. It's definetly ok.

I don't understand why there are comments that this pin looks like it has been replaced...there is nothing there to say that. Besides, I have one exactly the same (pin, position of the '800', etc. identical) and the pin has not been replaced.

No problems here!

I have no problems with this piece, including the case & the pin. markings are known, pin looks fine to me and that is the earliest style of the EK1 case with "nailhead" button and gold cross on the lid. I can't prove it, but I believe that cases of this type are leftovers from 1870 era crosses. Nice item!
