Hi guys, this is a hard case. A vaulted 'private purchase' EKI with a incuse 800-mark. Been going through the database and only hardware that matches is the one found on KAG-marked crosses, The core is not a match so far though. What do you think?

Been searching the database and found many different maker marked crosses with the same core as the one started the thread. Were there "goverment supplied" cores similar to the ones found on 1870-crosses? Many of the EKII's share cores too. A bit far fetched that so many different makers used parts from eachother, must've been some competition between the makers. Any ideas?

I don't think the hardware on this one is that similar to the KAG shown. The hinge is different, larger top portion than the KAG, the KAG pin is more tapered on the bottom and the catch is a bit thinner on the KAG. The pins do have a fairly similar shape. The core on my KAG shown is one of at least two known KAG cores, this one being known as the wide crown core.

The core on your example is generic. It was used by quite a few different manufacturers. The hardware does not really point to any specific maker.
It's a nice cross, but imo the maker can not be determined.

Hi Carl
Not related to the KAG. Part of what some call the 800 family, I think there are 3-4 different core types and a handful of 800 marks, the incuse, one on the clasp, above the hinge, on the top and underneath the pin, one below the clasp. Also a screwback version, I've only seen two cores types for the SB though to date
Unidentified as of yet but we're working on it
