    2ND Class Knights Cross....HELP!!

    Greetings all!!

I just picked these two 2nd Class Iron Crosses up at an estate sale and would like to know if these are good ones. One is in great shape and the ring suspension has a marking but i cant make it out....the other one has a crack in the center and the part that hold the ring on was re sodered, but it looks like it was done a while ago...that ring has a mark like an NO or ON cant really tell...would like to learn a little about these two ,what there worth, and what your opinions are. I hope I didnt over pay I paid $50 each. There was no other military stuff there so I was prett confident they were good.
Thanks so much for the help,German items are outside my realms but im always looking to learn.

Both crosses are perfectly good and at $50 each, you did OK.

The one with the repaired ring is a "KO". One of the most common
makers. To some collectors the repaired ring detracts some from the
value but I have no problem with it. Cracked iron cores are do not
    affect value at all.

The other cross is a very nice looking cross. It would be nice to see what
the makers mark is. I have a felling it might be "Fr" for Frielander. If you have
access to a flatbed scanner, you might try doing a high res scan.
Some people collect different makers but for the most part, the maker of
a 2nd class cross does not affect the value.

    Hope this helps some.

Excellent!! Thanks so much you definitly did help me out. I really appreciate it. The marking on that one ring is so hard to make out im not sure if it is an FR like you said. Grrr...What are these two worth...im going to hang on to one as I dont have one yet and would like to sell the other and not rip myself off while selling it.Thanks!!

Whatever the mark on the second one is, I think Godet made the core. You paid about right for them. Without ribbons, $50 apiece is on the low end but about right.
        Best regards,
