Great army air ship badges Fergus, but i told you this .

I'm not convinced about the JUNCKER navy air ship badges. This is the only type i often see on market with different pin and catch but the same workmanship. It's a little odd why this only kind of badges have been seen on market, and for me too much for this low number of award. I only see two navy air ship badges that i call original and both out of a group with wearer picture.

          Regards Alex

            Ferg,

Is the bottom badge in the first pic a Meybauer? If so, could you post pics of the front and back? Awesome collection by the way. Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, the army example in the picture with the cloth badges (top left) is a Maybauer but unmarked. Ferg1.

Sorry Ferg for my directions! This is the one that the mark looked like Meybauer. Is it? Thanks, Steve

                  Now that's quite a group .
I have never seen so many in one place before.

Just a question - the cloth badges for Lufschiffbesatzungen in blue and fieldgrey - are original ? Not realy, or ?

                    Regards

I just wonder ...... the badges for the navy were introduced with change of uniform regulations in 1916 (Bundesarchiv RM3/9511 S. 185, Deckblatt Nr.309) and were distributed by the Bekleidungsamt Wilhelmshaven. They were compared with sealed proof and should look like this from my former Collection, with inventory stamp of the Marinebekleidungsamt Wilhelmshaven.

                        Regards

Steve, here are pictures of Maybauer marked piece.Although from a Juncker die there the simalarity ends. Pin is in Maybauer style ,hinge block does not match others but does match several 1930's Maybauer EK's. Finish is in typical Maybauer style with the overall having a very fine grained/etched finish and the shear cut marks on edges chased off and high polished, I have several pilot badges by this maker with the same finish. Inner edges have been very finely chased and finished to a high standard. I can only assume that the badge was struck by Juncker and finished at Maybauer (they were just across the road from Juncker). Size and weight conform to other pieces.

Hi Markus, that is a nice arm badge! As with all badges there are several variations ,I have seen a couple of these in the Imperial War Museum in London that are unquestionably genuine but quite different in style. I also have pictures of these in wear and they vary too.Ferg1
