    4+ inch belt buckle ?

Never saw one this size so I thought I might ask for an ID. No markings I can see.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanx, Rick C.

Can you point out what makes it a fake? This is outside of my area of expertise (if I even have one).

I would like to know as well since I'm always looking to learn from those in-the-know.

              Hi,

I'm no expert either but from a german site
              http://www.das-koppelschloss.de/startseite1.htm

it says it is typical from a reproduction to have "bleche unter den Nieten", which means the two metal strips on the inside of the the buckle.

to see a fake, go to kopien - archiv - Preussen
to see originals go to koppelschlosser - preussen - preussischer koppelschlosser

              Hope this helps,
              Michel

I don't get it. (then again, I'm a 'slow' Irish boy)

Here's the (original?) buckle on the site mentioned by Michel

                      fake telegrafen

                      hello gentlemen,

i am sorry to say, but both buckles shown sofar are common fakes.
the iron versions always come with a lot of paint and these scratches, the brass version has this DRGM stamp, that does not make any sense at all.

                      please do compare with:
                      http://www.das-koppelschloss.de/preussen1.htm

guess you can also find more details in the buckle section.

                      greetings

                      sven

                        Understood. I see it now.

I appreciate everyone's feedback on this. I guess this heads for the Bazar.

Anyone have an idea on a fair price I might put this up for. Any ideas would be appreciated.

                        Thanx everyone!

                        Rick C.
