Just snagged this one. Paid too much, but because of the teachings of the most Wise Rick Lundström, this is what I see.... A Saxon NCO (Double FAM/EK device on the war ribbon!), who was attached somehow to a Reuss connected regiment. Who received a Reuss House Order Silver Medal with Swords, bumped up to junior officer and received the Reuss House Order, 4th. Class with Swords! What do you think of that!? I can count on one hand the number of ribbon bars I've seen with Reuss ribbon(s) on them!

I had this bar in my watch-list, but when I look today in my watchlist the title "Württemberg,etc..." looks not intersting for me.....two Reuss ribbons at one ribbonbar....my favorite country in old germany...

nay-- that's no officer! That there, betcha, betcha, is the Reuss Gold Merit MEDAL with Swords and CROWN next to the silver with swords...
and although there are no rolls around... I would think you are talking in the neighbor of under 100 awarded, TOPS.
Also of note, these are BEFORE the Saxon ribbons-- which indicate that the recipient was a Buck Private, to have started out with a BRONZE Saxon FAM. But no long service ribbon...
and while there was a Reuss "connection" with Saxony (Jäger Baon 13) there was no such Saxon "link" to a Reuss unit:
so:
A Saxon RESERVIST, I'd venture, or a first term draftee finishing up as the war started. Rose up the possible wartime NCO ranks (Vizefeldwebel dR/dL?) in JB 13 or one of its expanded cadre war formations, but not being career, no long service award for that doubled war-time. And then after the war, he liked his Reuss gongs better, so wore them first, because his native Saxon stuff was boring and everybody had those.
Under 100... I'm telling you...
Why anyone collects that boring same old same old by-the-millions Third Reich zinky stuff...

... I was just lending towards my inevitable favoritism for Saxony! Reuss would be far more sensible, but the Golden medal w. Crown & Swords is so scarce I did not even consider it! OUCH! Werner, I don't think this one is for sale soon, Mr. Lundström has claimed drooling & pawing rights!Comment
