Javi, I don't study these per se. I own a wartime Friedlander. I get scared when a PLM is presented as a between the wars wearer's copy, jewelers copy etc.... Steve follows these things very closely though and will be along sooner or later.

I would not own this one. The piece looks to be of the type made by Cejalvo in Madrid Spain. Even if it is not made there, this is not a interwar copy in my opinion. The big tip off to this one is the solid filled legs.

These mimic the Wagner but the letters, eagle placement and other features set them apart as fake. If you want a piece as a filler and are not spending more than a hundred bucks, go for it. Steve

                thank you very much guys,

i will pass on this one, if it was 100% 30´s made i would think to buy it or not, but if we are not sure....i will pass. i don´t want to have a 80´or 90´s piece on my collection.

                thank you very much!!!!

I believe this to be a deadly copy, very nice, but a copy nevertheless.
If you carefully file the extra stuff from the feathers, this would look even better (deadlier?) Depending on its price, I wouldn’t mind owning this one for display purposes.

Just to throw in two bits, while this is consistent with a type of fake apparently made in Spain, my recent "digging" on the subject would suggest Cejalvo-made versions are substantially more frightening yet, with fully sculpted/cut away eagles and better enamel work; fortunately they may number less than twenty pieces, though no one seems to know for certain how many were made or if they can/are still making them. If they made/make this type as well, it is actually a couple of steps down from what they are/were capable of, good as it looks in some respects.

Beautiful but deadly. Has a ring to it.

These pieces have improved over time. The earlier ones, such as this, have good workmanship, decent enamel, good details, etc. Late ones began to remove the filler around the eagles, but the lettering and tail feathers are still the same. Placement of eagles compared to the lettering is the same. They would have to change the whole mold to become convincing.

BUT...to the average buyer, these look real. As I said, if found for $100 or so, they make great filler. Above that, I would go after an S&L style as it at least falls into the world of 1957 awards. Above that, well, then it gets real expensive or you are real fortunate or both. Steve
