    1870 Godet EK2 --> Opinions please

I have been on the lookout for a "slender 7" 1870 Godet EK2 for some time now, and I've passed up a few examples for various reasons including price, condition, and quality of the strike. I like this one in every particular, and I'd like to hear your opinions on it before I consider buying it.

I am almost certain that it's a good one, but with a dangerous new presumed fake on the market, one can't be too careful before making a decision.

    Thanking you in advance,
    Best regards,
    Streptile

      Hi Mike,

Thank you. By "copies" do you mean there are fakes?

I don't have any more photos, but I will ask the seller.

      Thank you,
      Best regards,

Surface of the core looks good to me. Is the frame under the small ring cut out and only one end of the ring soldered to the frame ? That would be a good sign.
        Regards
        Markus

          Markus,
I only see what you see, but I have requested new photos from the seller.
It does look like the jump ring is unattached on the reverse side, doesn't it?
          Thanks,
          Best regards,

I think that cross is ok, but maybe it is painted.

                Best regards, Mike

Significant beading wear/abrasion on the reverse nine o'clock arm suggests that the cross was originally mounted on a medalbar. The new pictures do not show any convincing indication that the cross has been repainted.

                  Regards,

                  Ed

Thank you for your opinions, they are very valuable to me.

Tony, Marshall, and Greg, may I ask you if you think I have any reason to hesitate with this one?
                      Best regards,

There dosen't appear to be any obvious red flag to me Trevor.. the core has the correct rough texture from the sand casting and the frame wear looks honest.

                        Even the ribbon looks good.

I would be happy with it.

Thanks for the opinions, Greg and Marshall.

I will try to add this one to my treasure chest and post more photos when I've got it.

Really looking forward to having one of these, I must say.

                            Best,
