I am quite sure, that this is original, but it isn´t an official medal. It is a kind of remembrance-medaillon, worn around the neck.

...is more than likely a watch fob.

I tend to agree with Gerd, I have seen these on neck chains but never once seen them used as watch fobs (it is a remembrance piece after all)

Like the seller mentions, the chain is for a watch and the likelyhood of the two items being an integral entity is remote. Most watchfobs from that period were not nickel-plated anyhow....

On the second look this IS a watchfob. Although i have also never seen this worn this way, it isn´t unthinkable, that it indeed was.
