help with a 1870 EK II

    Good morning America,

I could not sleep so I figure I would post some questions I have about this 1870 cross.
I bought it together with a few 1847 buckles I needed for my collection and I’m wondering if it is original. It looks ok to me but have no experience in these.

Here's a pic of my great grandfather's for you to compare to. There were more than one manufacturer so don't worry if it's not the same. I downloaded yours but when I blew it up to really see I got pixeled out

I cant comment on the oakleaves, as usual, not my thing, but the cross itself looks fine to me. A salty piece with character.

And here is mine for further comparison.. I can't see the details close enough to give a definitive answer, but i can't say anything bad about either.

It looks totally original - the oakleaves look good to me also. However, it looks as though the black paint on the core may have been touched up. That would hurt the value slightly, but it's not a major thing.

That's what that is, I think you're right Tim.

                          Looks fine to me....

.... right down to the out of alignment bottom arm, which seems to be a characteristic often encountered with the 1870 EK2. A little too much sdhnapps for lunch one day would be my bet.
