        Ehrenbecher

You have not asked for it, but here is "my" Ehrenbecher in silver that goes with the display.

          Hi Mike,

I have my reservations on this one. I got it, along with the small ribbon bar, from my friend, the late Neal W O´Connor. I believe this is not original. This particular piece appears in his book on Prussian Awards. He got a nicer one, and gave me this one. Anyway, this is a filler until a better quality one comes along.

It is a funny cross. The original is only 12x have been awarded. It would be a miracle one to get.

            Best regards, Mike

Ha, Ha, Ha, yes it is funny. But, I assure you that my silver Ehrenbecher gives me more smiles

I am sure there are , as it is often seen on German awards, more original pieces than the actual number awarded. However, the RAO 3rd with crown and swords is an extremely difficult piece to obtain indeed.

                Beautiful grouping of awards!!!

Not my area of collecting but I can trully appreciate the effort you put in to recreate his group.

                Nice job!

gmu, Wonderful Collection....As others have stated, this is an Excellent Project. I am a collector and admirer of the old Brandenburg Red Eagle Order and I love this collection! Some beautiful Orden Hier!

                  Congratulations.
Some wouldn't be able to pull this group off in 3 lifetimes. Bravo!
                  Sincerely,

                    Hello all,

Thank you for your nice comments. Indeed, this has been a difficult task to undertake, but a very rewarding one. Of course, as some of you have quickly suggested, this could be improved. A Friedlander, Wagner or Godet, wartime period Pour le Merite quickly comes to mind.

Nevertheless, this is what I have so far. Fortunately, I still have time, plenty of time, and a lot of patience. Inferior pieces will surely be substituted by better ones. No doubt about it.

As Stephen P. has pointed out, it is amazing to see how this brings up life and color to an otherwise dull, black and white, image.

Thanks again guys for your nice comments.

                    Cheers,

                    George

                      That's a lovely dedicated display you've amounted!

May I ask can you tell me if the Turkish Star case has a symbol of the lid surface like these examples in this thread, please.

Also, just out of interest what's the makers name in the liner of the case.

                        Marcus,

Thanks for your comments. No, the case has no outside markings at all. The only mark it has is the one by Godet u. Sohn. as shown on post # 6.
