For Rick L.: early Ribbon bars in wear

    Hi Guys,

I found some early ribbon bars in wear in the Priesdorf Vol. 7

1st char.GenMaj Emil Friedrich von Kessel, born 1804, died 1870, got the RAO3 with bow 1863, ended up as Commander of Glogau.
He wear a 4-place bar. other ribbons are probably the XXV, a 1848 medal and the 4th...??

2nd GenLt Gustav August von Fabeck, born 1813, died 1898.
    He received a RAO3 with bow and a Russian Anna 2nd class 1864, a KO3 with X 1866 and the RAO2 with cabbage 1870; so this pic dates between 1866 and 1870.
He ended up as dep Cdr 37th Infantry Brigade.

This gives me an additional Reason To Live besides being a Human Cat Radiator.

I've never seen or handled anything from before the 1880s, so ayuh...

              So show us please!

I will go through the earlier Priesdorffs next weeks, maybe I find more earlier Prussians.

              Best regards

                      And one more!

Here's an oddity. This is from what appears to be a sample-card from a printer, used to show style/price

                        Francois

That appears to be an early war portrait of the later General der Infanterie Hermann von Francois, commanding general of the 1. Armeekorps, taken before his 14 May 1915 award of the PLM.

                        Regards

You're driftin' off focus, boyz. Lots of "Old Styles" as worn into WW1 like these. Examples from before the 1890s let alone PRE Franco-Prussian War are what got my heart goin' thumpathump.

Before seeing the original two, I had NEVER seen pre-1880s ribbon bars.
