Hi gyus,

i am relatively new to this forum, and not particularly experienced (the possession of an EK II 1914 doesn't qualify me as an collector!!).

Does anybody know the decorations received by the following naval personalities during WW1:

1. Kplt Lothar von Arnauld de la Perriere
2. Kplt Max Valentiner
3. Adm. Reinhard Scheer
4. VAdm. Franz Hipper

If anybody knows anything an answer would be greatly appreciated!!

Valentiner got Pour le Merite, Prussian Hohenzollern House Order 3 with Swords (ever after "HHOX" we have our little ways here ), both Iron Crosses, both Oldenburg Friedrich August Crosses, Oldenburg House Order-Knight 2nd with Swords, Hamburg Hanseatic Cross (HHC) and 1918 Uboat badge.

von Arnauld got PLM, HHOX, both Iron Crosses, HHC, 1918 Uboat Badge, Leopold Order-Knight with War Decoration (WD), A-H Order of the Iron Crown-3rd wWD, A-H Military Merit cRoss 3wWD, Turkish Liakat Medal in Silver with Sabers Bar and Turkish War Medal star ("Gallipoli Star" to your side of The Pond-- most of these can be found by searching the award name here or in the International Forum)

here is Lothar when VERY young. He was apparently extremely vain and though he looked remarkably like Lord Mountbatten in his last years, he persistently cropped what he felt were "overlarge" ears in later shots:

Reinhard (Ritter von) Scheer: PLM with Oakleaves, Prussian Red Eagle Order 1st Class with Oakleaves and Swords, Red Eagle 2nd Class with Star and Oakleaves--both with Swords, Iron Crosses, Oldenburg FACs, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Friedrich Franz Crosses, all three Hanseatic Crosses, Bavarian Military Max Joseph Order-Knight (which bestowed PERSONAL lifetime only nobility like knighthood as "Ritter von"), Oldenburg House Order 1 with Swords ("wXs" as we type to save space here)
Saxon St. Henryt Order-Knight, Saxe-Ernestine House Order 1st wXs, and Württemberg Military Merit Order-Knight.

Franz (Ritter von) Hipper: PLM, REO2with Star, Oakleaves on both both with Xs, Bavarian Max Joseph-Knight, Bavarian Military Merit Order 2nd with Star Xs on both, all three Hanseatic Crosses, both Oldenburg Friedrich August Crosses, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Friedrich Franz Cross 2nd Class, Saxon Albert Order-2nd with Star and Xs on both, Wtbf Military Merit Order-Commander and Knight.

Those are their WARTIME awrads, not including pre- or post-war ones.

I asked because i saw these photos showing both von Arnauld and Valentiner in full regalia. By the way what is the badge Lothar is wearing on the right of his u-boat badge?
