    Friedrich Kreuz 1st Class Opinions

I have been offered the chance to purchase this Anhalt Friedrich Kreuz 1st Class.

I do not know much about what to look for to verify it as original. I need your opinions.

I know this was an "unofficial" award. Why is that?

Also, should there be maker's marks of any kind?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Archie

      Archie,
I am far from an expert on these but that looks like a series of fakes that came out a few years ago. A friend of mine almost bought one until
I pointed out the fact that the dealer had one of almost every first class equivalent on his table and most had this round pin set up.

Have to agree with CRBeery, this one does absolutely not look good. I'd not buy it. This award was never issued nor awarded and those (old ones) that exist are most likely 1920s/30s private purchase stuff from makers that apparently thought there was a 1st class of any of those WW1 crosses.

My father used to have one with typical 30s set up. They exist, but they are no actual awards.

I agree, those pins give it away as a modern copy. These were never awarded with a pinback, it's a single class award.
All the first class types have been copied and have these pins.

Thanks guys for your opinions and information. I will let it go.

I'm curious. If there was no such award, then what is Nimmergut referring to in the OEK? (#82)

To a pinback cross, "nicht offiziell". He refers to that cross that was invented and offered by the makers in the 20s or 30s.
