Godet 800 EK2 in Picklehaube case

Hi Guys, recent purchase I thought you might like to see. It is ring stamped "G" and 800 with the original length of ribbon. The case is hard felt covered with linen inside the lid and dark velvet base. The opening device is two standard type spring loaded catches which are disguised as the cockades at each side. My camera is a bit poor but the detail of the eagle and brass work is very good. The underside of the base is smooth leatherette. Cross appears to have never been cleaned.

I'd heard of this type of case before but never imagined I'd ever seen one, that was until this one appeared on Ebay last week.

I had seriously considered bidding but unforuately have my flights for the SOS to pay for so had to resist! glad to see another forum member got it. Congratulations!

BTW the one I'd had described to me before had a mint EK1 inside... out of curiosity, would an EK1 fit in there? I didn't see any slot for the pin so I assume these were made in 2 types?

Paul, in answer to your question I'm not sure what volume were made. Thanks Richard, an EK1 would just fit into the case as the inside of the lid is quite domed however there is no slot for a pin in the base and no impression as if one had ever rested in there.
I was very surprised to see it myself and very pleased to win it. Does anyone know if they were specifically for Godet or available as a stand alone purchase?

                  Outstanding!

Hi Glenn, well I've seen a lot of patriotic EK displays, a bunch of display EK2 cases, no shortage of custom-made cases/displays and all sorts of stuff in between... that is by far the nicest one I've ever seen. My congratulations!

What the hell is that? Never never seen or heard about such a case. Fantastic find, I love it!

                        Hi Glenn,

This is the second one of these that I've seen. Both of these had EKs with
the 800 silver content stamp. I can't remember if the other was a Godet
                        or not.

Both times the bidding went higher then may meager budget could afford.

                        Very cool piece.
                        Congratulations,
                        Greg

Thanks guys for all the comments. I think I got this extremely cheaply. Hardly anyone bid on the item which surprised me. Has anyone else seen any reference to these or owned similar.
                          Cheers, Glenn.l
