Another question; what is the difference between the Hamburg 11 and the Hamburg 3 version (the latter having the split pin)?

I could only find these numbers in a google book (in german);

the firm who made them was M. Fleck & Sohn Hamburg 3. Michaelisstrasse 8,
the form to obtain one was to be send at Hamburg 11 Herrengraben 11/14.
