    A little game anyone?

--Here's an interesting little ditty that I cut out of a magazine a while ago. I recently opened a book that I had read at that time and the clipping fell out, so I figured I'd post it here.
--It's a painting called "Portrait of a German Officer" painted in 1914 by a man named Hartley. I can't recall his first name right now.
--There's a lot of stuff in here - some obvious, some a little less so. How many things can we pinpoint here?

Interesting, but a bit early for Dadaism, which was from approx. 1916-1923. Although somewhat surealistic, it looks more like a collage than anything else. If its from an American, then definalty not, as this movement didnt reach American shores until almost the early 20's. We didnt share the anti-aesthetic creations and protest activities, which were engendered by disgust for bourgeois values and despair over World War I. Not like the Europeans, anyway.

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

--I don't know sh!t about art movements, but I looked up the painting and artist on the web and it referred to the style as: "Expressionism - An art movement dominant in Germany from 1905-1925..."
