Sorry Peter! Kay is right and i am wrong! What bugs me the most is that i saw that 'closed 4' variant before and didn't match it to yours. Got hung up on the file marks on the edges of the frame when should have focused on the core and frame shape instead.

Kaye's English is not great, but he knows Iron Crosses.

and this ek is going in to my collection.

language,,, well aim working with the computer dictionary American English
I added the English English to it to improve my English
hope my English improves in the future

the ek is going to be combined it with this prospect I have .
1934 with the regular 4 and the closed 4 in it .

and there's a point aim a little frustrated about
ww1 collectors are not looking as precise as the ww2 collectors .

missing the wonderful real rare variations in ek's ,,,,disregarding and forgetting that most variations off them made after ww1 and are a part off the
          ww1 ek collector area.

and the ww2 collectors are running away with it,,,,
if it comes to expertise about them or having beauty;s in they're collection they have the advantage.

thank god i do consider the 1918 /1945 the most interesting ek 1914 era

Kay> So you already bought the cross from Peter? Then it goes to another good home! Love those 1914/39 ones as well and i am mostly a -39 collector. They are quite rare, so far i only got a 'Juncker framed' 800-marked one, the same cross but without the 800 mark Detlev N charged 175E for, prices for those are in sane now!

                before I forget ,,,

                Boerger (L57) sold they're 1914/39 crosses also to Schauerte & hohfeld (L54)

you will find ek1 marked L54 here and there ,,,with core and frame off L57

As said...sold the cross to Kay for a fair price. This is not my area and I´m happy that the cross is going Holland!

                    Good for you Kay!

May I suggest a comparison with a '57 vintage S&L, especially when comparing the thickness of the beading and the shape of the inside corners of the beading? the 'chatter' or ripples on the outside edges of the frame flanges also suggest '57 type of workmanship.

                    Just some thoughts,

after looking closely to it. YES

i stand corrected ,,there is no excuse fore my failure .

you all where wright all along

                        it is most likely a 1957 S&L

aim not sure do about the frame but the core is a mach....

                        what a blunder

but still happy to have a 1957 in my collection,,,,,
time to study them more closely to prevent myself off blundering like this

                        regards kay
