    Prussian Feldwebel buttons?

Are these the Feldwebel or Sergeanten buttons which were worn on the collar? The diameter is 30 mm.

The buttons were the same for all grades from Sergeant up. A Vizefeldwebel was distinguished from a Sergeant by having officer's sword knot and similar details, and a Feldwebel from a Vizefeldwebel by having that extra row of "Spiess" braid over the cuffs. The collar rank was exactly the same for all three.

How did they EVER keep those clean???...

Here is a 'well prepared" band Vizefeldwebel. How do we KNOW he is a Vizefeldwebel?-- officer's sword knot.

This Flak Offizier-Stellvertreter wanted everyone to know that he was a permanent Wachtmeister and not a Vizewachtmeister... hence his use of the fatigue uniform chevron of his pre-war rank. Note the officers' cockade.

            FOUR Ranks-- ONE Rank Button!

Here we have a Feldwebelleutnant with typical abbreviated "corner" collar braid, same button-- but of course worn in conjunction with "Leutnant" shoulder boards for this weird wartime rank.
