A little trinket for Brian S to enjoy

Here is something Brian S should enjoy, as his Grandfather General Gunther von Etzel was the Commander of Kurmärkisches Dragoner - Regt. Nr.14, garrisoned in Colmar i.E. as part of the XV.Armee-Korps. It's a Model 1891 Preußen Dragoner Mannschaft (Other Ranks) Pickelhaube. Much easier to display than a lance.

Here is a view of the Model 1891 Preußen Dragoner Mannschaft (Other Ranks) front plate. Only Dragoner and Jäger zu Pferd regiments used this pattern of eagle.

And why would Brian like this helmet? Looky here! The helmet is unit
marked "DR14 3E" for "Dragoner Regt 14 3rd Squadron and dated "1902" on the rear visor. There is a very good chance that the man that wore this helmet, rode by on horseback in Brian's parade photo of his grandfather.

AND, the thing about this post that most people will probably unfortunately miss, is your educational information about HOW TO READ INK STAMPS on clothing. What to most of us is just Imperial numbers and meaningless is indeed the keys to the kingdom.

Thank you Tony! You rank as one of the people on this forum who can decipher and demystify. When PHD's get handed out, you're right there on stage with the Ricks, Glenns and Daniels, et al.
