      It's very interesting the way the beading seems to have "slipped" on the rim on the one side. Is there any explanation for this appearance that you can determine?

            I can hazard a couple of guesses: 1) the beading was made separately from the flanges of the frame, and over time has been bent away from the rest of the frame, possibly resoldered, or 2) the entire lower reverse frame was bashed at one time, causing it to "sag", then the frame halves were simply resoldered together in this position and maybe filed off on the edges.

            Either that, or the guy who made it did the front half of the frame in the morning, then had a pint of doppelbok on with lunch, and then made the reverse frame.
