I didn't buy it! Looked a little weird, here's what it says;
SPECTACULAR 7-PLACE RIBBON BAR: with 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class having 10mm wide finely detailed nickel-silver 1939 Spange device for second award; Prussian 1914 Red Eagle Order 3rd Class with Crown and Swords having 13mm wide silver crossed swords device with crown above. Has separately applied bow ribbon bundle and sterling silver ring; 1914-1918 Prussian Crown Order 4th Class also with silver crossed swords device and crown; 1914 Imperial State of Saxony 'Albrecht Order' with silver crossed swords and crown device for combatant; 1914-1918 Cross of Honor with Swords for Combatant; two Third Reich SS Long Service awards each with silver SS runes devices of nickel-silver but detailed as being faux bullion wire embroidery. Reverse of ribbon bar has SS field gray wool backing and long brass pin. Clean and colorful. Quite genuine and not a recent fantasy piece. Man was a highly decorated World War One combat veteran, certainly an officer of Prussian nobility. The three imperial awards (Prussian and Saxon) were for conspicuous gallantry and exceptional service; ranked in prestige much higher than the Iron Cross, however regulations prescribed that the EKII always placed first in order.Last edited by Brian S; 11-11-2003, 07:42 PM.

Hmmm... familiar sounding verbosity combined with utter incorrectness. Is there a contest going on out there? Halloween was 2 weeks ago, so I hope this is a MARKED DOWN costume item!!!
Wrong parts in yellow:

Let's see, how can we say this....
... do the words "Piece of Crap" ring any bells? Unfortunately Mr. Hamilton has sold a great number of the old "Ohio-style" fake bars in the last couple of his updates. All for exceptionally high sums, even worse than me!
I gave up a long time ago trying to tell dealers that the pieces they were standing behind wouldn't hold up to a sneeze.......

The Appalling Reality
1) MOST RECENT, NEWEST version CAST "mercury" FAKE Spange device. These excellent quality looking, but too thin and WEIRD soft casting metal devices are not "nickel silver" any more than any ORIGINAL device ever was!
2 through 5) Again, Classic Ohio Parts Fraud. This Frankenstein just can NOT keep his squirrely paws away from idiotic combatant devices on the peacetime ribbon. Again, preposterous baloney about "nickel silver" devices and "sterling silver" ring (the 3rd Class, which was the ONLY grade with bow, duh, was GOLD), PAINTED crown lining... ¡Ay Caramba!
6) Prussian Crown Order never had swords on a peacetime ribbon 3rd or 4th class, NEITHER of which this COULD be, since the device is stove-melted Ick Metal again-- swords for both those classes on a war (EK) ribbon were... doh!!! GOLD. Same as if this crap was a Württemberg Friedrich Order-- swords would be gold, and NO crown device
7) SILVER swords on an Albert Order would be for the Merit Cross-- given ONLY to warrant Officers and Senior NCOs-- quite a Rise To Power in a Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel with the mortifyingly stooopid Red Eagle if the cast device was removed.
8 through 11) Well, of course TWO SS long services could NOT be worn together. ESPECIALLY two IDENTICAL supposed to be "silver" with a Return To Early Garbage "made with a nail clipper file" look.
Brass backed...
well OF COURSE IT DOES. Duh!!!Attached Files

Really? I thought that was a Floriduh "accent" there in the appalling text. Maybe these are being made and delivered with little scrolls already made out with all the florid and WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG "descriptions" attached already?
You know, folks, I have reached a point of middle aged, winter-impending, evolution-doubting male PMS of late where I am fast approaching the most uncharitable opinion that IDIOTS who shell out enormous sums for JUNK like this almost DESERVE it.

I disagree, because it's collectors who get stung thinking they can trust the opinions and expertise of a seller they've done business with several years. But I think you're close, you can't trust any dealer. Buy but vet it quick and you're only stuck with the postage. Biggest problem is these sites where the items are gone in a day or so and the buyers aren't doing ANY homework. I like checking this particular site for 'prices'. If he's selling something like mine I have to check fast because the SOLD wipes out the price.Last edited by Brian S; 11-12-2003, 08:25 AM.

It seems to be a universal given among virtually all our vast blue water planet's dealers that ribbon bars are "beneath" paying attention too...
like 1 Mai 1935 tinnies, or such...
but then they are NOT giving these away, are they? For the money being charged and paid on crap like this, you'd expect either the seller or the buyer--one of them anyway-- to be paying attention.
Apparently both ends of transactions over these are happy.
I shudder to think what the REST of what buyers of this junk have in their "collections" actually IS!!!!
I read posts Among The Zinkies where they are all obsessing over the shape of the nasal passage on an eagle's head, or the Sub-Atomic Particle Dimensions of suchandsuch an award...
but FAKE "great looooooooking" ribbon bars selling in three figures...
reach blindfolded into the pickle barrel, an' be GRATEFUL wut yaz gets?
