I think you have good reason to doubt this one.
I am pretty sure this is a "9th bead fake" that has been well aged.
All the tsigns are there--- over sized 9th bead, under sized 5th bead,
over/under style date. All of these on the same cross would make
me pass over this one.
Do a forum search for "9th bead" and you will see more examples. -
That disappointment, I'm looking for a long time a EK 1870 ... but seems impossible. Thank you very much gregM.

Honest 1870 EKIIs are out there. You will find a great one that you can have no doubts about, just please use a good dealer, (and keep the proof of purchase
)

Yes, that is a "textbook" 9th bead fake. For those that read a bit German, here's an article on those (and on 1870 EKs in general) that was recently published on German "JOMSA" pendant:
