    Imperial medal identification please

Bought this one among some American and WWII German items at estate sale today, on front its says "Ernst Ludwig Grossherzog Von Hessen" and "Fer Tapferkeit" ( for bravery/gallantry) on the other with ribbon. What is this medal and is it particularly rare?

    Thanks!

The "Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen" (General Honor Award) was originally instituted on 25 September 1843 by Grand Duke Ludwig III. It was updated in 1894 to bear the bust of the reigning Grand Duke, Ernst Ludwig. This general award came with a variety of inscriptions on the reverse. The variety "Für Tapferkeit" served as Hessen’s premiere bravery medal during WWI. It was awarded in silver through 1917.
